All About Me
,My name is Vivian Burnette. I am starting my eighteenth year as a teacher at Northview Primary. I have taught first grade for sixteen years and second grade for one year. I am looking forward to starting this year as a Junior Primary teacher. I value this position because it is my passion to help students achieve their highest potential. I was once a struggling student. I was held back as a third grader and had the most amazing teacher who taught me that even when I made mistakes, as long as I was trying my best, that it was okay. She taught me the love of reading and forgiveness when you did something that might get you into trouble.
Northview is a second home to me. Some weeks I spend more time there than I do my own home. I try to be engaged with the student,s interests and try to at least make it to one of their sporting events each year if possible. My students and their family become part of my family. Only through working together and communicating with each other, can we help students become strong first graders. I am easy to talk to and look forward to building new relationships with each family. Writing a note in the agenda or sending me an email is the quickest way to get in touch with me.
I have a daughter in the fourth grade so I realize more and more each year how hard it is to juggle work, helping your child get to their after school activities, helping them with their homework, and taking care of your home. Trust me! I get the struggle. We can do it! Staying super organized and having a nightly routine is the key. Unplugging from the world and reading with your child every night will do amazing things for your child's learning and help your child succeed in the classroom.
I love music and movement and try to incorporate it into my classroom often. I love to laugh with the kids and I let them know that I am a real person with real feelings. I wan them to know that above and beyond anythings else I care about them as a person and as a student. I run on coffee, chocolate, country music, Nascar, and UT Football. I am a die hard Northview Cougar Football fan. I love Northview Football! On Fridays I bleed green. On Saturdays I bleed orange. You will often find me at the Academy games where I will talk football. I have a nerdy obsession with all things to do with Mason Jars and living a chemical free life. I look forward to meeting you and want you to know that I am always here to help with whatever questions you have.
